I just returned from the trip to Arizona where I was working for copper mine in Miami. On one of the weekends I had a chance to visit Desert Gardens Gem, Mineral & Jewelry show in Quartzsite.
Here are some pictures from this visit
Don’t forget to click on the picture to see some more on the topic

These quartz druses on chrysocolla and malachite were beautiful and very expensive

There are people that not wasting their time in the desert just trying to sell some goodies. They keep cutting, grinding, polishing, knapping under the friendly winter Arizona sun

This is a killer titanothere scull from White River Badlands

Knappers are the coolest people at the show

Obsidian weapons

“Just” jusper

A bit of mookaite

Hardly stopped myself from buying a big chunk of lemon chrysoprase (Australia). I love this delicate colour

Good show, enjoyed this a lot. I will post some pictures of the stuff I got there. And obviously there will be
a chance to see everything at the next Calgary Gem & Mineral show in October 2011

Hello there – I’m looking for details on the 2011 Calgary Gem Show. I represent an Ammolite hand-craftsman and wonder if this is something we’d be interested in…
Mick.
Nice blog! I especially like the pictures and the field trip reports. Do you do much rockhounding locally? I am always curious what can be found somewhere else besides where I am at in San Diego, California. BTW, I have a rockhounding blog at: http://www.rockchaser.com . I linked your blog. If you like, link mine back! -Eva
Wow, nice stories! However, I hope you will post some about Calgary area rock collecting too! Ironically, living in California, I am already familiar with most of the locations you have been posting on!
