I just returned from the business trip to Arizona, where I had a chance to spend one weekend rockhounding for fire agate. This is amazing place called Black Hills Rockhound Area near Morenci copper mine. I had a great day there and would highly recommend it for visiting and enjoying excellent rockhounding in a desert.

Chalcedony and carnelian are covering the area in a thick layer

Cacti watching over gemstones

Magnificent desert views complement the rockhounding enjoyment

The fire agate is really hard to find, I managed to get just a few pieces

Colourful grasshoppers are in a strong competition with surrounding gems

I found a lot of geodes, some jasper and pretty iron coloured quartz druses. The best of them can be seeing at the Calgary Gem and Mineral Show in November.
