I carved this piece from mammoth tusk bark that was found in Siberian republic Sakha-Yakutia. More precisely in Allaikhovskiy ulus (region) where Indigirka river flows into the East-Siberian Sea (marginal sea in the Arctic Ocean).
This ivory has some cracks, but the piece is still solid and can be used as a pendant without any concerns. These natural cracks appeared in the bark when the mammoth was roaming the Siberian steppe and actually add value to the piece. The external layer of the bark is preserved, representing brown hair of woolly mammoth. The high quality bail allows to use up to 2mm cord. This is an excellent pendant from this set (I carved about 30 mammoths in a single firing run). This is a big healthy female woolly mammoth. Excellent example of the species.
